Hiking Series // Donut Falls

I had to zoom in hard core on this picture, so it's a little grainy. I was too scared to get this close because I am not a daredevil. Ha.

I am not lying to you guys when I say I am on a hiking frenzy. I went on five hikes last week. I just want to do my cardio outside! Sometimes the gym is too stuffy and hot and gross, ya know? This time, we took all of the kiddos (my nieces and nephews) and did this fun, easy hike! It was packed, unfortunately, but it was still good to get the kids out and hiking! The water was freezing. So much so that I made my niece cry because I forced her to walk through the water. I'm such a mean aunt. Any who, it was a beautiful day-- not too hot-- and it was so green and gorgeous. There is something so therapeutic about being up in the Utah mountains, friends. If you saw my caption above (and look at the picture below), you see you have to climb all the way up to the top of the rocks to get the donut hole view. I went up the left side and zoomed in. But you could still see the cool little waterfall going through from where I was standing.

"Guys. Come on."

The gang.

The chipmunks and squirrels were NOT scared of people. And they were so fat. Ha.

Teya found lots of friends. At every single ground squirrel, squirrel, and chipmunk she would stop and get so excited. (Yes, every single time too...)

I LOVE all of the wildflowers.

Afterwards, we swam for a little bit (to get more energy out! Ha). These are 6 of my 13 nieces and nephews. It's fun to have so many of them so close to me now! This is a really good picture of them all, too ;)

Hiking Series // Lake Mary

Last week, I grabbed my friend Joni and we headed up to Big Cottonwood Canyon for another beautiful hike (I told you guys I wasn't going to stop hiking!). We got up to the canyon at about 7:30 and trekked it up even higher in the mountains. We started going up--we are talking STRAIGHT UP!--for about 1.25 miles. I looked around and realized that we were on the wrong trail. So we had climbed the equivalent of 60 flights of stairs and we weren't even on the correct path. We took a little detour through the meadow and crossed over. All while getting eaten by mosquitoes (there are lots of mosquitoes up there so bring bug spray. We learned our lesson!). We finally found the correct path and headed up to Lake Mary and it was beautiful. I had no problem getting lost with Joni though. We were just laughing and talking (which is why we got lost in the first place), but it was a good time. Along the way, we ended up seeing so many wildflowers, creeks, and meadows and forests while in the mountains, so it turned out okay. We ended up  hiking 5 miles instead of the 1.5! Either way, this is a great hike (and we got in some good views and good exercise for doing extra! Ha).

I love all of the wildflowers!

So beautiful! What are some of your favorite hikes?

Hiking Series // Cecret Lake

photos via instagram

Well, I guess I won't stop hiking. Ha. I grabbed some of my family and headed up to Little Cottonwood Canyon to Cecret Lake. It was a perfect little hike for kids. Wembley (the three year old) got a little tired, but it ended up being fine. The day we went was perfect temperature up in the mountains and we got there before there were too many people. I can imagine this place getting insanely busy on the weekends though. It was a beautiful hike!
