Can I Be Honest?

K. I am having this problem.

I feel like this blogging ordeal is becoming more of a burden than an enjoyment.
There. I said it. Whew.

I feel like there are so many things to "keep up" on:
"I almost have 200 followers: time for a giveaway!"
Time to start "charging" people for a sponsorship? Why do I even care about sponsorship?
My navigation bar isn't working and it almost gives me OCD. This is just plain pathetic.
I worry about comments and regulating what I say.
I compare my blogs to others.
I want more followers.

I originally started this blog for ME. Because I love to write. I love to change others lives so the they can relate to me and connect with me.  Plus, it's therapeutic and fun to get it out of of my brain and onto here.

I started this blog for my emotional journey, not yours. So why do I feel like I need to do all of these things?

Don't get me wrong, there are so many positive aspects to blogging. I love love love meeting blogging friends. I ran into Amanda today. (So good to see you, girl!) And that part is so much fun. I am so grateful for all of the love, support, and kind words you all give me. It keeps me motivated.

But I have decided something.

To stop caring so much.

I want to write what I want to say on this blog. Not to impress anyone else. Not to try to portray that I'm somebody else. I want to be ME. Even if my words do tend to be overdramatic, or emotional, or boring, or if you disagree.

I hope that you guys will stick around and love me anyway. I love having you here. Seriously.
I ask you to deal with my sporadic writing periods.
To maybe not expect a post every day.
This is a lifestyle blog. That's what life is all about: ups and downs.
And this blog encompasses that ideal.

I want this blog to grow. I want people to be able to relate. But I want it to grow with me. Does that make sense?

You all are beautiful. And wonderful. And AWESOME.
Thanks for loving my strong personality and strong writing!
Told you there was never a boring day in the life of Sierra

  1. I have definitely been exactly where you are!! I think you made the smartest decision...just blog for you and try to forget all the other stuff. That's what makes blogging so awesome!

  2. Totally understandable-- but keep being you! I love reading what you have to say :)

  3. That's totally understandable, I'm sure everyone has those moments! I've felt that way before, and I actually took about a week off of blogging, then realized that I really missed it, and as much work as it is sometimes, (and even stressful sometimes!) its one of the things I really enjoy. But yeah, blog for yourself, and I think you'd be suprised how many people still stay around!

  4. Um.. I have the dilemma with blogland all the time. It caused me to take an almost year long hiatus, and I didn't regret it at all. Blog for you!

  5. You've read my blog, you know I write for me and if anyone feels like listening, that's great. If not, I'm going to write anyway! Don't feel pressured to do anything that doesn't make you happy. Don't do a giveaway for 200 followers if you don't feel like it!

  6. I think so many bloggers feel like that. Last week was extremely tiring for me and emotionally draining. I had a breakdown to my husband telling him that I have to full time jobs. My real job and blogging. I was worried about the domain, and posting after my cousins funeral and all these petty things. What it comes down to is that people who follow your blog want to hear from you, they don't care if it's short, or unedited or spelling erros. It's just you! You, my doggy's aunt! :)

  7. love it :)being true to yourself and not living to please others :)I just wanna be like you when i grow up OKAY?!

  8. Geez, you just took the words right out of my mouth! I was feeling so overwhelmed this morning. Like I had to catch up with everyone from over the weekend and debating on whether or not I had anything interesting to say. I'm glad you posted this. It's just what I needed to hear.

  9. Sierra, your blog is so REAL. I love it. It's cool to see how you think and see the world and your mind in such a clear and genuine way. I'm very glad to have met you the other day. :)

  10. I'm TOTALLY with you! Blogging can be LOTS of work huh?!

  11. I feel the same way! I never thought it would be so time consuming! It's a lot of fun but a lot of work. Your blog is adorable! Just keep being you!

  12. Yes. Blogging is time-consuming. I've thought about seriously walking away once.

  13. The moment you stop blogging for yourself, you need to step away. This is your time, your project, your decision. And even though I just showed up here, I whole heartedly support whatever path you choose.

  15. Something I keep telling myself and reminding others is to only blog if you're having fun. Do what you want to do girl! If you love the time you're investing into the blog it will show. The readers that follow you will be "quality." When I first started I was concerned with my "number." How many followers do I have today!? I quickly realized to let that go. I would much rather quality, loyal followers than quantity...and people who probably aren't even reading anyways. Be true to yourself and enjoy your blog. Your loyal followers will follow any direction you take. Good for you in being honest! We can all relate!

Leave some love!
